Population : 4,319 (72% pirate, 11% Krawk,
14% landlubbin' tourists, 3% other)
Area : 245 sq. km
GDP : 64,000 Dubloons

Krawk Island, about 80 miles south of the larger Mystery Island, was named because of its strange inhabitants, the Krawks. Aside from these strange lizard-like creatures, Krawk was a desolate rock, until about a year ago when a gang of pirates on the run from the law landed and settled. Since then it has become very popular with all manner of undesirable citizens...

Pirates made their first appearance in Neopia on August 17, 2001. Their first act was to destroy the underwater city of Maraqua, turning it into a giant Whirlpool! They then set course for Krawk Island where they show no signs of leaving their scurvy home.

Here's what the Neopedia has to say about Krawk Island:

After a few weeks of sailin' the high seas in search of treasure, there's no place that a pirate would rather be than visitin' their hideaway on the beauteous shores of Krawk Island. There's nothing like havin' the warm sand beneath yer pegleg, and feelin' the cool island breeze as it caressess yer weary face. Ahoy, the life of a buccaneer is the only way to be livin'!

After months of guzzlin' down the slop that they feed ye in the messdeck, the first place ye'll want to be visitin' on Krawk Island is the Golden Dubloon, where every customer is treated like the captain. The Golden Dubloon offers a hearty assortment of appetizers, an' a stunnin' variety of belt bustin' delights (the bilge rat madeira is NOT to be missed!). Not to mention that every meal comes courtesy of the Fontaine sisters; now that's what I call service with a smile!

Havin' chuffed yer fill, now would be a good time to see the sights an' take a walk along the shore. Once ye've gone all the way up the island's sandy northern coast, ye could pop in fer a quick look at Krawk Island's famous fungus caves. An' hey, if ye have a Krawk as a Petpet, it might be a good idea to bring the little nipper along...

Krawk Games

Treasure of the Black Pawkeet - Find Black Pawkeet's Secret Treasure!

Dubloon Disaster - After a successful raid on Krawk Harbour a small pirate ship tries to escape... however they didn't count on the Black Pawkeet, the most feared pirate ship of all. You play Dorak, an enterprising young Krawk in a rowing boat. Try and salvage as much of the treasure as possible, but avoid the homing mines that are being fired from the Black Pawkeet.

Krawps - Underneath the Golden Dubloon restaurant is a dingy, small little room used solely for gambling. Only one game is played -- Krawps, possibly the most confusing game ever to hit the shores of Krawk Island, or, well.. the whole of Neopia for that matter. Krawps is by far the most exciting game on Krawk Island. The game is fast moving and there is no limit to how much you can win. Before spending all yer NP on Dubloons fer a trip to Krawk Island, be sure to set aside some points so ye can still hit the Krawps table. Okay, so it might be takin' ye a few rolls to get the hang of the game, but once ye've figured out the basics of layin' a Bilge Line bet, ye'll be well on yer way!

Deckswabber - Ahoy me hearties, swab the deck turning all the squares the same colour gathering loot as you go. Collect the gold, the chests, and the magical puzzle boxes, but avoid the scurvy brutes at all costs, lest ye meet ya doom! If you get killed, you can start from the same level up to three times, but you will lose 30 points. If you earn over 400 points you can earn a Dubloon!

Deckball - Its Pawkeet against Mirgle in this deck-top battle of the Pet Pets. A disused pirate galleon off the coast of Krawk Island is home to the fabulous game of DeckBall!!! Click here to read about the Krawk Cup competition that we held in the month of Gathering, Year 3.

Armada! - Two elderly pirates sit here glaring angrily at each other. They seem to be moving a fleet of small wooden ships around a board... I wonder what they are doing? Ah...they are playing Armada. Armada requires yot o play with someone else. You can send a neofriend a request to play, then you are all set!

Food Club - Some hungry Pirates are all competing to see who can eat the most. Choose the Pirate you think will win and place a bet!

Shopping on Krawk Island

Like everything else on Krawk Island, Dubloons are the currency of choice.

Krawk Island Nippers - If ye had the misfortune of makin' the trip to Krawk Island alone, then chances are yer feelin' a little lonely by now... well cheer up, matey! Loaded with a fine assortment of Weewoos, Deavers and Plathydons, a trip to the Little Nippers shop is just the trick to lift yer spirits! There, you'll be able to choose from a wide selection of Pirakeets, Blurtles, and Narwhools and find a loyal Petpet that's sure to put a sparkle back in your sulking pet's eyes.

Smugglers Cove - Speakin' of a good way to be spendin' yer dubloons, no trip to Krawk Island would be complete without a swing past the Smuggler's Cove. Those scurvy smugglers might be harder to catch than a shorebound clipper, but if ye can manage to track 'em down, it'll certainly be worth the effort. At the bottom of a cliff in Krawk Island lies a cave, a place where smugglers can sell their ill-gotten gains. Rare items from all over Neopia can be found here, at a price.
