Situated 250 miles to the southeast of Neopia Central, Mystery Island is a tropical isle whose exotic foods and adventurous safaris have made it a perennial favourite of tourists. In fact, as a means of promoting tourism, the one totem fee for ferry rides to the island was recently waived. Now, ferry rides from Neopia Central to Mystery Island are free to all.

Approximately 65 miles in diameter, most of Mystery Island's population is situated within Cannibal Village, home to the Tribe of Pango. Among the island's treasure of beautiful beaches, the most popular is gorgeous Omara Bay, which lies along Mystery Island's northeast shore. Despite attempts by Neopian real estate developers to establish resorts on Mystery Island, so far protests by the cannibals of the Tribe of Pango have generally quelled such efforts. As the Island Mystic puts it, "A great place to visit is Mystery Island, but for you to live here we wouldn't want."

Tiku Taku Island - Situated just off the coast of mainland Mystery Island, Tiku Taku Island is a shrine containing three monuments dedicated to the god Tiku Taku. According to legend, Tiku Taku was a great warrior whose bravery once saved the inhabitants of Mystery Island from certain doom. Each year, during the first week of the month of Hunting, Tiku Taku's bravery is celebrated, as natives of Mystery Island make the 2.3 mile swim to Tiku Taku Island and leave a rare item as an offering to their god.

Omara Bay - See the many faces of Mystery Island for only 50np! Many a visitor has fallen in love with the white sand and arching waves of beautiful Omara Bay. Sporting a steady stream of majestic four to six foot waves, each year Omara Bay plays host to a number of surfing contests. In addition to its phenomenal surfing conditions, Omara Bay is home to a number of rare plant and animal species, making it an ideal locale for snorkeling. Why not take a tour?

In addition to the Tribe of Pango, Mystery Island is also home to a substantial population of Kougras. Despite the fearsome appearance of their sharp claws and teeth, Kougras are generally even tempered and kind. It is even believed by some that Kougras can bring their owners good luck. However, if angered Kougras have been known to be ferocious and tireless combatants.

Mystery Island Stories & Trivia

The Neopedia has some great articles about Mystery Island and it's inhabitants. Here are a few for you to read:

  • Gadgadsbogen - All over Mystery Island natives and tourists join together to commemorate the annual festival of Gadgadsbogen. Literally translated to mean "good good day," Gadgadsbogen celebrates a phenomenon ...
  • The Legend of Chiazilla - Many many moons ago when the Cocos were the only inhabitants of Mystery Island and Neopia was only just formed, an ancient creature roamed the oceans. Legend has it that a great king had the power to summon the Sea Monster from the depths of the ocean in times of need....
  • Flames the Tame - In spite of his fearsome appearance, Flame the Tame is actually quite gentle and kind. Unfortunately, his frightful looks are a serious hindrance when it comes to making friends, and as a result Flame is rather shy and quiet. In an effort to quell his reputation as a ferocious feline fireball, Flame approached the Mystery Island Fire Department in hopes of becoming a volunteer firefighter....
  • The Golden Juppie - The King of the Pango tribe, Mumbo Pango, has a problem with renegade farmers who secretly continue growing Golden Juppies. Utilizing an intercontinental ring of Juppie smugglers drawn in by the lure of high stakes and fast money, Golden Juppies continue to draw great sums wherever they are imported.
  • Ancient Manchu Bow - The first Manchu Bows were accidentally found by a young Kougra named Zannik, who discovered them in a cave while picking Kraku Berries on Mystery Island.
  • The Volcano Crystal - The Volcano Crystal can only be found within the depths of Piku Paku volcano on Mystery Island, where only the bravest of Pango tribesmen dare to venture.
